# Check whether an object is empty

Check for own enumerable string keys on a JSON object.

Canonical: https://1loc.dev/validator/check-if-an-object-is-empty/
Version: 1.0.0
Runtime: JavaScript · Node.js 22 / modern browsers
Verification: Local fixtures; no external services
Updated: 2026-10-28

## Implementation

```javascript
function isEmpty(value) { return Object.keys(value).length === 0; }
```

## Input

```json
{
  "ready": true
}
```

## Expected output

```json
false
```

## Edge case

Input:
```json
{}
```
Output:
```json
true
```

## Limits

- Input must be a non-null object, not an array. Symbol and non-enumerable keys are outside this JSON contract.

The lab validates types and size before calling this function. Add equivalent validation at your own trust boundary.
