Use Object.prototype.toString so String objects count too.

Canonical: https://1loc.dev/validator/check-if-a-value-is-a-string/
Version: 1.0.0
Runtime: JavaScript · Node.js 22 / modern browsers
Verification: Local fixtures; no external services
Updated: 2026-10-28

## Implementation

```javascript
function isString(value) { return Object.prototype.toString.call(value) === '[object String]'; }
```

## Input

```json
"ana"
```

## Expected output

```json
true
```

## Edge case

Input:
```json
8812
```
Output:
```json
false
```

## Limits

- typeof value === "string" is enough unless you must accept new String() objects.

The lab validates types and size before calling this function. Add equivalent validation at your own trust boundary.
