## Implementation

```javascript
function countWords(text) { return (text.match(/\S+/g) || []).length; }
```

## Input

```json
"Small code, working integrations."
```

## Expected output

```json
4
```

## Edge case

Input:
```json
"   "
```
Output:
```json
0
```

## Limits

- The original split on whitespace and returned 1 for a blank string; this version returns 0.
- Punctuation attached to a word is part of it.

The lab validates types and size before calling this function. Add equivalent validation at your own trust boundary.
